Glad to hear that! Puremix is a great complement and course enhancement for schools with a complete curriculum. While there is no replacement for talented instructors and one on one mentoring, we know it's nice to have prepared courses like ours to support specific points, save time on example creation and have access to high level musical talent that’s not easy to find elsewhere. Ah! Great question. Because most other websites could care less about audio and we take extreme pride and care with our video player’s audio quality. Think about it this way: If we play you an example of a bass drum recorded in different positions, do you want to hear exactly what we hear and be able to understand the subtle differences between the microphone placements or do you want us to compress and limit the hell out of everything so you don’t have to touch your volume knob but then hear less differences? That’s the tradeoff, either we allow you to hear what we hear, or we enter the loudness war. We chose the former: Puremix is actually calibrated at -18dBFs average across the board. And, we are encoding our videos so that audio always has priority over video and the sound quality never suffers in low bandwidth situations. We care about sound.
