Carlos El Loco Bedoya has worked with influential artists such as Beyonce, Missy Elliot, Weezer, Enrique Iglesias and Ricardo Arjona.
In this pureMix.net Exclusive, El Loco Bedoya shows you how he created the energetic mix for the Latin pop song, Viaje by Ricardo Arjona.
In this two hour tutorial, El Loco Bedoya shows you how he made performances recorded from contributors all over the world in different spaces sound like they were performed in the same room.
See how Carlos addresses unique instruments like the Campana, Guiro, Conga, Bongos, Chinese Harp, Sitars, and the Cajon by adding tone with EQ, dealing with problematic room tones and how he establishes the connection between what the listener hears, and the space they expectto hear this type of music in.
Once you have seen how Carlos does it, download the stems and apply what you have learned in your own studio.

I have enjoy and learned so much for this course. How great to see how simple work (know exactly what to do) can produce such a great result. I always wonder how these type of music sound so full and massive. It's all about (most of the time) substrative EQ, great use of compressor, de-esser, tape and of course reverb (to put it in the room) and some delay. Excellent work done by Carlos.
Thanks to Puremix for expanding the flavor (more than only rock / pop music).

I am a big fan of Arjona and bought this tutorial just to get the inside on how the mix was done. I am very impressed and I am a new fan of "El Loco" , I can't imagine what a tutorial in spanish would be!, Pure fun!.
Thanks for sharing this info and Gracias Loco !.

Great tutorial, thanks!
One thing - if the Bypassed/Engaged listenings could be a little bit longer it would be easier to get a deep understanding of the work process.
But it was great anyway :)

the video is great, but is it just me or the image is slight shift to the left? while I watch the video I see for example the kick in the center, but when I hear it's image is a little on the left? thanks

This is SUCH a pleasure to mix! Its not only a great song, but I adore cancion Latin ) (y Latina)! Years ago I had the pleasure of being an assistant engineer on a project for SeIena (rest in peace) and then re fell in LOVE with Latin as a Zumba Fitness instructor, and my love for it grows and grows como la fleur. There is a new mixing contest, but the project subject is not pleasant to me. El Loco... Muchas gracias mi amigo! More por favor! I have learned much from your video - it is a pleasure to work with you (Although I use Pro Tools LoL) Adios y muchas gracias
