Lauten Atlantis microphone

Lauten Atlantis microphone
5 min • 2012
The Lauten Audio Atlantis is a microphone that has 3 different circuitry: Forward, Normal and Gentle. If you’ve been watching some pureMix videos lately, you know that we love microphones that are not too bright, or don’t hurt your eyes and teeth when you listen too them.
In order to test it, we decided to bring Will Knox and his guitar in the studio and record a couples of verses on the Normal and Gentle positions. Have a listen for yourself and make up your mind... Here’s a hint: the result speaks for itself.

The power of your videos and expertise Fab! I just purchased this mic! It will be my first high quality condenser mic. (Replacing an Audio Tech. 2020) I also bought the Apollo Twin. Can't wait to try it. Your recommendation was huge a factor in the choice, I also like the versality of this mic: 3 setting 3 Patterns and 3 levels - great for someone that is attempting to up his game on budget! Thank you so much!

Very nice song...Lovely voice and haunting lyrics. The 2nd setting was much more pleasing with it's rounded top end. The 1st Mic setting was harsh, as well as essses in abundance. The 2nd setting was a much better match for this situation.

Yeah, that's just GREAT. Make sure you test only 2 of 3 possible settings, leaving out the only one I'M interested in, for .
Screw it, off to grab the RODE and save some money.

Studioface & Dylan i agree with you both. Great source material to start with and when the mic recorded with no gain it was much more pleasing and musical. The mic picked up a bit more of the guitar with light gain but the vocal suffered with the distortion it added. It also made the changes due to proximity effect more jarring.

It blows my mind that no one has commented on the actual musician/songwriter being recorded here. I think all-too-often people forget that the source is the most important thing. The song is king, the performance is second, the recording a distant 3rd, in my opinion. I know this website is all about recording (I'm a subscriber and I can't begin to tell you how much I love this site), but the first thing that struck me here was not the microphone or its settings, but #1 what a great song this is and #2 what a great performer Will is. Simply amazing!

Beautiful. Me and a friend were blown away by Lauten at your Sweetwater '12 presentation. Definitely on the list of purchases.

Love the Gentle setting. Matches the tone of his voice a bit better.
