In this 68 minute video, Fab Dupont reverse engineers his own mix of the dubstep style song called 'Carribean' by Grand Baton.
Fab emphasizes the techniques required to handle and manage a heavily layered electronic music session in ProTools. From stem-mixing, to advanced routing techniques to serious 2-bus hardware processing and special Melodyne tricks to create otherworldly tones, he leaves no stones unturned.
Throughout the video, Fab studies advanced processing and special effects for acoustic and electronic drums, synth-sounding guitars, heavy keyboards and crushed vocals, reverbs and delays
The downloadable session is quite big and you can of course import it in any DAW you like. Enjoy!

I keep realizing that Mastering is small incrementing steps. It's not drastic but the small steps lead to a big path. Patience is definitely needed to Master.

Excellent tutorial Fabrice. While I rarely like what the Manley does above 5-6khz region, it's definitely a go to consideration for shaping a thick/fat round bouncy bottom. Thanks for this. Would love to see another mastering on big lush ballads or piano ballads. On a side note: Streaming this content can be really frustrating and disruptive to critical listening, if ever you guys decide to make downloading the video an option for pro members, I have my wallet ready to buy this one.
kind regards, gene

Really smart and elegant solution to treat the mix with limiting/compressing first, place the final limiter last of the chain and then insert the outboard. Do you often use EQ as a first in the chain, Fab? Thank you!

Very nice to hear the 2 bus treatments ! I wonder if you listen through it while mixing or if you keep enough headroom to allow that last touch to come back at a nice pre-mastering level ?

Another great video from Maestro Fab! I will have to comeback and watch this one over and over! The end was awesome cause of the outboard gear magic...My favorite section and one I have suffered from quite a bit in the past was the fattening of the vocals part! The three piece fattening of the guitar part was genius! Fab is an amazing sound engineer and he presents with such elegance and ease, not to mention clarity and attention to detail!

I too am having troubles with the exercise files. They download, but then I get a "decompression failed" error message.

The exercise file archive seems to be corrupted, at least two files are reported bad.
