Part 2

In Part 2, Andrew Scheps dives deep into the drum processing and parallel compression chains that define his updated template. Starting from his organized drum kit routing folders, he demonstrates how to shape punchy, musical drums using tools like the Fairchild 670, UAD Fatso, Devil-Loc, and iZotope Trash 2.

Andrew explains how each processor contributes to the overall tone, from subtle parallel warmth and saturation to gritty textures that make the drums come alive in a mix. He reveals how his philosophy has evolved toward less default compression, focusing on intentional decisions and simplicity that enhance creativity.

Beyond compression, Andrew shows how he integrates reverbs, filters, and dirt buses to add dimension and energy, all while keeping his workflow fast and recallable. His insights on gain staging, parallel routing, and session visibility make this episode a must-watch for anyone serious about mixing drums, building templates, or mastering advanced audio production techniques.
